"We have been breeders of exotic parrots since 1998. Dr Rich and staff are our first and only stop to make sure the breeders we buy are healthy. The professionalism of Dr Rich and his staff far exceed our expectations. Regardless the outcome of the exam we know we can trust the results and advice given by Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital of Louisiana. The clinic is always clean and the staff friendly. We highly recommend all clients set up an appointment to meet Dr Rich and/or Dr Pence. Don’t wait until it’s an emergency. Well visits are very important to maintain healthy happy animals. We are very fortunate to have such well respected, professional and caring exotic veterinarians in our area."

Avian & Exotic Pet Grooming

Avian Exotic Pet Grooming Metairie

When it comes to owning an avian or exotic pet, there are many things to consider to keep them healthy. A tank or a cage, the location of the tank/cage, food, air temperature—the list goes on and on. If you’re a first-time avian or exotic pet owner, there’s probably one thing you HAVEN’T considered, and that’s grooming. Keeping your pet groomed can be just as important as any other area of their health. Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital of Louisiana is pleased to offer grooming services for our patients, in addition to our other wellness services. We want your furry, feathery, and scaly friends to be healthy on the inside and on the outside!

We offer the following grooming and bathing services for all of our avian and exotic pets:

  • Nail trimming and filing for birds, small mammals, and lizards
  • Spray baths for pet birds to mimic their natural habitat
  • Bathing for ferrets to prevent odors and infections
  • Hair mat removal, brushing, and combing for pet rabbits, pet ferrets, and pet guinea pigs
  • Bathing and grooming for rabbits and guinea pigs when deemed necessary by our veterinarians
